En el Instituto Pasteur de Montevideo (IPM) se llevar\u00e1 adelante el Simposio \u201c<\/strong><\/span>Thiols: key players in the redox regulation of cellular functions<\/i><\/strong>\u201d<\/strong>, evento destinado a estudiantes de maestr\u00eda o doctorado<\/strong> en las \u00e1reas de biolog\u00eda, qu\u00edmica, bioqu\u00edmica, biotecnolog\u00eda, bioinform\u00e1tica, medicina u otras relacionadas, siempre que est\u00e9n trabajando -o con posibilidades cercanas de hacerlo- en asignaturas vinculadas.<\/span><\/p>\n

El simposio, que se realizar\u00e1 al final del curso \u201cRedox chemestry and biology of thiols\u201d<\/i> –28 de febrero<\/strong>– que tambi\u00e9n se lleva a cabo en el IPM, recibe res\u00famenes (300 palabras) hasta el 13 de febrero al siguiente correo: thiols2019@gmail.com<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Los tioles en prote\u00ednas y cofactores cumplen funciones catal\u00edticas, estructurales, de fijaci\u00f3n de metales y reguladoras, y son clave para el metabolismo, la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n, la defensa antioxidante y el plegamiento de prote\u00ednas. <\/span><\/p>\n

Los temas del Simposio<\/strong> son las especies reactivas al ox\u00edgeno y nitr\u00f3geno y oxidaci\u00f3n de ciste\u00edna; qu\u00edmica de tioles; biolog\u00eda qu\u00edmica del metabolismo del azufre y sulfuro de hidr\u00f3geno; selenociste\u00edna y selenoprote\u00ednas; biolog\u00eda estructural de las redoxinas; formaci\u00f3n de enlaces disulfuro y plegamiento de prote\u00ednas; sistemas antioxidantes dependientes de tiol; sistemas redox alternativos basados en tiol; interruptores redox y biosensores basados en metalo-tiol.<\/span><\/p>\n

Es una actividad es organizada por el IPM junto a la Universidad de la Rep\u00fablica (UdelaR) y el Centro de Investigaciones Biom\u00e9dicas (CEINBIO), a trav\u00e9s de Beatriz \u00c1lvarez (Facultad de Ciencias), Marcelo Comini (IP Montevideo), Gustavo Salinas (Facultad de Qu\u00edmica, IPM) y Madia Trujillo (Facultad de Medicina).<\/span><\/p>\n
